If conservatives are so smart why do progressives always have to clean up their messes when they leave office?
The surviving Republican members of congress & the senate have been echoing the clarion call of the wing-nut radio blabbers and wing-net bloggers - calling the progressive income tax and Obama's proposals for rate changes SOCIALISM.
What we don't need, don't want, can't use any more of - is radical capitalism - as evidenced by the ever-widening gyre between haves and have-nots, the criminal deregulation of corporate businesses and financial institutions, and the malignant neglect of the people's infrastructure; of education, food, product and workplace safety; of the crazy-quilt patchwork of healthcare options that fails to cover all the people.
What else don't we need? We don't need wars and meddling in the affairs of nations across the planet when we can't afford to keep our own country's affairs in order.
From where I sit, the nation has drifted from center-right in the Nixon years to farther right.
IF we experience a "hard-left" lurch under President Obama - at best, we may be a center-left nation - which is where I think we should be. That's why I voted for Obama.
