Well, howdy!
This is my first post on TypePad. I'm still feeling my way - but I think I really like it. I have more options that I can perform without e-mailing a host. It's very user-friendly. Now - if I haven't misjudged the situation - and if the service doesn't go to hell like so many other things in the century of American decadence - I hope to see all the Rev'lers who regularly read da RANTS @ -
http://www.revart.org/blog/ - and I hope to gain some more readers hereabouts . . .
IF PRIVATE SCHOOLS AND HOME SCHOOLS ARE THE ANSWER -
SHOULD WE RECONSIDER THE QUESTION . . .
"People tend to separate the African-American crisis of access to education from the general American crisis of access to education. There has been a real decline in the quality of education for all of us, whites and blacks. There have been several cycles of destroying our public school education: One was pulling resources out of public schools in the wake of white flight (particularly in the urban North) after migration from the South in the '60s and '70s of blacks to the inner city. But the second was the sort of tax withdrawal, so that you have a system like California's. When I first graduated from law school and moved to California, (the state
) had the No. 1 public school system and university system in the country; but it is now at the bottom because they purposefully took money out of it. They destroyed it. Yes, home schooling is fine, and yes, there are private schools. But if that's what we rely on, we rely on something less than a notion of universal access and something other than a system that unsettles a class system. If private schools and home schooling are all we have, we have a much more static society, rooted in generational class stasis."

Sci-Fi Writer Arthur C. Clarke said:
"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."
And, "When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right.
When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong."
Sci-Fi Writer Philp K. Dick wrote:
"They ought to make it a binding clause that if you find God you get to keep him...
Finding God (if indeed [I] did find God) became, ultimately, a bummer, a constantly diminishing supply of joy sinking lower and lower like the contents of a bag of [drugs]."
He also said, "Insanity is sometimes an appropriate response to reality."
RANT, REV, RANT!
Pat Buchanan's scowling here, 'cuz - uncharacteristically for both of us - he and I find ourselves on da same page on this topic . . .
I'm fed up to HERE - (a point 2 feet or so above my head) - with right-wingers on TV, radio and angry message boards referring to those of us who oppose the irrational invasion and occupation of Quagmire as "America-haters" or as "disloyal to the troops".
Who supports the troops - the idiots who stick red, white & blue or yellow ribbons on their SUVs, who support Rumsfeld's "lean, mean", cheap-assed deployment policies, including redeployment of reserves and guardsmen past their exit dates - or the growing majority of Americans who believe we can best support the troops by just telling the TRUTH ?
"The Hate-America Crowd" has probably been copyrighted by FOX Snooze, along with "Fairly Unbalanced". Freedom has two great friends - soldiers who commit their lives to protect her - and the rest of us who exercise that precious freedom to speak to the ineptitude and incompetence, and the hubris and lies that have dumped our best young people in a horrific, killing, maiming mistake on the other side of the world!
I love this country. Those who call us "America-haters" are caught up in the pursuit of empire. The trouble is - empire doesn't love ya back . . .
