IT'S NEVER TOO LATE...
Anne Tyler, who is 64 today, wrote the novel, Back When We Were Grownups - which begins:
"Once upon a time, there was a woman who discovered she had turned into the wrong person. She was fifty-three years old by then—a grandmother. Wide and soft and dimpled, with two short wings of dry, fair hair flaring almost horizontally from a center part. Laugh lines at the corners of her eyes. A loose and colorful style of dress edging dangerously close to Bag Lady. Give her credit. Most people her age would say it was too late to make any changes."
AL FRANKEN, APPEARING On NBC's TODAY SHOW:
“I Think Rove And Libby Will Be Executed”…
Even after the EXECUTIONS of Cheney, Rove and Libby (& Hunt and
Liddy?) the true believer-reactionaries and nut-fundies will still be
squealing about how the Democrat Liberal Communists RAILROADED these
great Christian PATRIOTS onto Death Row just for SPITE and to advance
the HOMOSEXUAL AGENDA!
AMAZON has the hillarious video clip of Franken attacking a conservative, beating him with a chair, and then it gets UGLY!
Metafilter blogs this:
You wanna be free? Accept pornography. Or so says Salman Rushdie. He argues that a free and civilised society should be judged by its willingness to accept pornography. So which comes first, the liberty, or the boobies?
I know not what course others may take. But as for me, give me Boobies or give me death!!
Check out Salman Rushdie with his wife in Da Rev's Atheist Pin-ups and you'll have a new appreciation for Mr. Rushdie's appreciation of pornography! CINDY'S GONNA TIE HERSELF TO THE WHITEHOUSE!
SACK THAT "NEW BOND"
Daniel Craig will have a problem playing the new James Bond - because he hates guns. Yes, the actor will wield 007's famous Walther PPK in the movie Casino Royale.
But he revealed in OK! magazine: "I hate handguns. Handguns are used to
shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each
other..."
This GUN FEARING WUSS (GFW) also doesn't take his martinis shaken! I read all the Ian Fleming books from which the movies spun
and I say this: THE NEW BOND'S UNACCEPTABLE!
Can't they shoot ya for that?
I won't support people just 'cuz they wear the "liberal" label. There
are some other prominent personalities on the left that I find worrisome or embarrassing to the anti-war movement and the Progressive Cause:
Bobby Kennedy III
Noam Chomsky
Howard Zinn
Michael Moore (But he's VERY FUNNY!)
Warren Beatty
Alec Baldwin
Rob Reiner
Barbra Streisand
Cynthia McKinney
Steve Earle
Mike Wallace (*GFW)

QUESTION: Rev, you still refuse to address my question - "What is the "eye of the needle"?
ANSWER: HOLY CRAP! You mean it's one of those obscure metaphors Jesus liked to toss into the mix? That Jesus! If he'd spent a little less time trying to confound the ignorant goat herders, he might have written something of substance by which we might better understand his purpose. Oh, but wait. That couldn't be. Jesus was illiterate, wasn't he? (That's a question back at'cha, Questioner.)
As for this needle - (No, it's not some apocryphal "gate" into Jerusalem - that's no longer widely accepted). Maybe the Hebrews mangled the original Greek. The needle in Matthew and Mark is a "rafic". In Luke it is a "belone". But both are synonyms for needles used in sewing, but Luke's is more likely to be used by a surgeon than a seamstress. Are you with me so far?
The late Bishop Fulton J. Sheen appeared to me in a dream and insisted that the needle was a 6 inch carpet needle and the rope was made of camel hair - but I think that standing there naked except for his giant white wings - Bishop Sheen is clutching at straws, or camel hair.
The Eye of the Needle is either of these two:
1) A ruthless German spy, trying to get out of Britain with vital information about D-Day, must spend time with a young woman and her crippled husband. (Movie 1981) based on the book by Ken Follett.
2) The Greek word kamilos ('camel') should really be kamêlos, meaning 'cable, rope', as some late New Testament manuscripts actually have. Hence it is easier to thread a needle with a rope rather than a strand of cotton than for a rich man to enter the kingdom.
You choose...
Glad to help, Rev. Art - Atheologian
