Please excuse me for an abbreviated "POETS". This weekend we were all wrapped-up in a reunion of my wife's cousins. They're ALL Italian - so we needed to get this RIGHT! It was a guelling task preparing the humble cottage in Metro Fairborn, but it was worth it. A great time was had by all.
IRAQI SOCCER DREAM COMES TRUE
Football alone may not be enough to save Iraq from the centuries-old animosity that has seen the country devolve into an almost unprecedented scene of civil carnage. But for one day - for 90 minutes and a few hours to follow- the kind of glory that war can never match has lifted Iraq onto the throne of Asia.
Speaking to reporters after the win, Vieira referred briefly to the fact that the squad had been hampered by a similar, if less grossly violent version of modern Iraqi sectarian in-fighting before the Brazilian's arrival - but now - "They are united. They respect each other and have been working together. Who is a Sunni ... who is Shia is not my problem. That is important for the Iraqi people to see."
YEAH - BUT...
The do-nothing Iraqi parliament - just ahead of taking off for a month's vacation - awarded $10,000 each to the members of the victorious Iraqi Lions team. As usual, ca$h has been expropriated from present and future U. S. tax payers - in this case to provide the Iraqi Parliament drones with cover for no accomplishments.
