Celeb Atheists
Rodney Dangerfield (pictured balls and all) tripped over a rainbow IN 2004. He was an avowed atheist. He had that certain appeal that cuts across generations. Very funny guy. I hope his last days were comfortable - you know, without the tight collar and tie . . . He said he “smoked a lot of pot.”
Rodney passed away at UCLA Hospital in Westwood Tuesday. What a towering figure. When you consider that Rodney drank and smoked and chased women until he was eighty-two, you realize we’ve just lost the greatest athlete since Jim Thorpe.
When he went in for this operation, Rodney joked with reporters:
“If everything goes OK, I should be out in about 3 weeks. If it doesn’t I’ll be out in an hour and a half!”
A final Rodney Dangerfield joke, posted on his Web site: “I get no respect. I bought a cemetery plot. The guy said, ‘There goes the neighborhood.’” (N.Y. Daily News)
The last Dangerfield joke . . .
